| Thank you for your response to the article in the IGU-Magazine, April 2005 „Preserving the Gas Industry’s Heritage”.
On behalf of Director Hanne Thomsen from the Danish Gas Museum and Project leader Jacob Fentz (contact person to IGU), it is a pleasure to inform you, that we now have taken the first tiny step in creating The Global Gashistorical Network by publishing the first few pages of a new website http://www.gashistory.org. We sincerely hope, that you and many of your colleagues and friends will contribute with inputs, that could bring the website up to a useful standard of content. As you will see, when you visit the website, we have so far just made some hints of, what could be useful information. But first of all, we hope to be able to make the list of interested networkers much longer. So please, invite anyone, you think would be interested. So far about 45 is receiving this mail see the list at http://www.gashistory.org/Network.html. All, who are on the list or subscribe to it, will receive an electronic newsletter, when there are news to tell - for instance about the participation at the WGC in Amsterdam next year - as well as short summaries of new pages at the website. Subscribing and unsubscribing to the newsletter will be automated from the website in the near future. Secondly we invite all of you, related to gashistorical museums or collections with public access, to make a brief description (in English please), including a couple of photos, and send it to the webmaster. It will then be published as soon as possible. Please find inspiration in the description of the Danish Gasmuseum - http://www.gashistory.org/dangas.html We are also interested in relevant links and information about gashistorical publications. Finally, let me excuse for the graphical standards of the website. We did not have any budget, besides for the webhotel, so all has so far been done as voluntary work. But sponsors should be mostly welcomed! Hope to hear from you soon. Best regards Jens Utoft |
